Dan has been in the recycling industry for 26 years working with various companies in multiple states. He started his career in the recycling industry with Jefferson Smurfit’s Recycling Division in Oregon, and has since lived and worked in Washington, California, Indiana, Illinois, Utah, Michigan, New York, and now Texas. He has been privileged to learn from some of the best in the industry during his time with Jefferson Smurfit/Smurfit-Stone, Casella/FCR, ReCommunity, and Waste Connections. Dan has managed all facets of the recycling process in various local, regional, and national roles, with emphasis on Employee Safety, MRF Operations Management and Process Optimization, Public/Private Partnerships, and Material Marketing. He currently serves as Executive Director – Recycling for Waste Connections at their corporate headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas.

Chairperson, ANSI Standard for Material Recovery Facilities

Eppes is a safety expert with more than 30 thirty years of experience in the waste and recycling industry. She is currently corporate safety manager for Waste Connections, focusing on their recycling operations. Her corporate experience includes Waste Management, Republic Services, BFI, IBM and Mobil Oil.Since 1992, Eppes has served on ANSI Z245 series subcommittees as both a representative of major waste and recycling companies and a consultant. She is currently chairperson of the ANSI Z245 committee for standards that apply to all waste and recycling companies, as well as subcommittees for ANSI Z245.41, Facilities for the Processing of Commingled Recyclable Materials – Safety Requirements and ANSI Z245.42 – Waste Transfer Station Safety Requirements.Susan Eppes completed her Bachelor of Science in safety engineering and her Master of Science in safety engineering at Texas A&M University.
